        • Effect of pain management by anesthesia nurses on labor analgesia

Objective To explore the effect of pain management by anesthesia nurses on labor analgesia. Methods A total of 100 parturient women in the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology between July and August 2015 were randomly divided into two groups: analgesia group and control group with 50 in each. Both two groups accepted labor analgesia routine maternity nursing. Analgesia group accepted maternal perinatal term pain management in addition to the routine nursing. Then we compared degree of pain during the production process, labor time and perineal injury between the two groups of women. Results The number of women with a labor pain degree of 0-Ⅲ in the analgesia group was respectively 36 (72%), 12 (24%), 2 (4%) and 0 (0%), and the number in the control group was respectively 23 (46%), 17 (34%), 8 (16%), and 2 (4%). The above difference between the two groups was statistically significant (Z=–2.908, P =0.004). The number of women with intact perineum, perineal injury of lateral and median cut, and Ⅰ-Ⅲ degree laceration in the analgesia group was respectively 31 (62%), 7 (14%), 8 (16%), 4 (8%) and 0 (0%); and the number in the control group was respectively 21 (42%), 12 (24%), 10 (20%), 7 (14%) and 0 (0%), also with significant difference between the two groups (Z =–2.028, P =0.043). The first and second labor stage of the analgesia group was (462.32±101.27) and (63.58±10.38) minutes, and was (568.27±113.28) and (76.92±11.24) minutes in the control group, with significant differences between the two groups (P<0.001). There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the third labor stage (5.78±3.02) and (5.97±2.96) minutes, (P=0.654). Conclusions The implementation of pain management by anesthesia nurses on labor analgesia can significantly reduce maternal labor pain, shorten the time of labor, and the condition of the perineal injury is mild and easily acceptable. It is worthy of clinical promotion.

        • Study on the difference in stress load and professional benefit of hemodialysis nurses between different periods of coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic

ObjectiveTo investigate the current situation of stress load and professional benefit of hemodialysis nurses during the outbreak period and the remission period of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic, and discuss the differences in stress load and professional benefit of hemodialysis nurses between the two periods.MethodsIn February 2020, 119 hemodialysis nurses from three hemodialysis centers in Sichuan Province were selected as the respondents. Using the Stress Overload Scale and the Questionnaire of Nurses’ Perceived Professional Benefits, questionnaire survey was conducted in February 2020 and April 2020, respectively. Paired-sample t test was used for analysis.ResultsA total of 109 valid questionnaires were collected. The scores of stress load of hemodialysis nurses in outbreak period and remission stage were 3.00±1.26 and 2.17±1.16, respectively, of which the scores of event load dimension were 3.49±1.15 and 2.31±1.27, respectively, and the scores of individual vulnerability dimension were 2.59±1.19 and 2.05±1.06, respectively; the professional benefit scores of hemodialysis nurses in outbreak and remission were 4.19±0.83 and 4.21±0.78, respectively. The difference in stress load of the same group of hemodialysis nurses between different time periods was statistically significant (P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in professional benefit (P>0.05).ConclusionsDuring the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic, the stress load of hemodialysis nurses was ata medium level, and that in the remission stage of COVID-19 epidemic was at a low level; the professional benefit of nurses in the outbreak and remission period was at a high level. The stress load status of hemodialysis nurses was different between different periods of the epidemic. We should take incentive mechanism or targeted psychological intervention measures to improve the professional benefit level of nurses.

        • Correlation analysis between death coping ability, death attitude and stress state of nurses in the emergency department

Objective To investigate the current status of death coping ability, death attitude and stress state among emergency department nurses, and to analyze the relationship between the three. Methods Participants were selected using the convenience sampling method from emergency department nurses working at five tertiary hospitals in Chongqing between December 2024 and January 2025. Data were collected using a general information questionnaire, the Coping with Death Scale, the Chinese version of the Death Attitude Profile-Revised, and the Chinese version of the Perceived Stress Scale. Results A total of 246 valid questionnaires were retrieved. The average total score of death coping ability among emergency department nurses was (136.93±26.98), which fell into the moderate level based on the Coping with Death Scale classification criteria. Neutral acceptance was the predominant death attitude, with an average item score of (3.71±0.62), accompanied by the polarizing feature of coexisting death avoidance and death fear. The average total score of perceived stress was (26.19±5.61), indicating a state of stress overload. The results of hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, neutral acceptance, approaching acceptance, educational background, and sense of loss of control had an impact on death coping ability (P<0.05). Conclusion It is recommended to construct a three-level intervention system encompassing death education, stress management skills training, and individualized psychological support, so as to enhance emergency department nurses’ death coping ability and occupational mental health.
