        • Research Progress of Relationship Between IGFBP Gene and Pancreatic Cancer

ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) gene with pancreatic cancer. MethodsThe relevant literatures at home and abroad in recent years were reviewed. From the pancreatic cancer related genes, IGFBP related tumors and the correlation between IGFBP and pancreatic cancer research and other aspects of the previous research results were summaried. ResultsMost of the studies suggested that IGFBP could inhibit the function of tumor cells through the IGF dependent pathway, but the deletion or mutation of IGFBP gene and its regulation mechanism are still unclear. ConclusionIGFBP is closely related to the tumor, but its specific effects and mechanism of pancreatic cancer has not been settled. In order to affect the degree of cell differentiation, regulation of tumor growth and metastasis probability through the change of endogenous IGFBP gene level, the further studie is needed.

        • Research Progress of Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells and Pancreatic Cancer

ObjectiveTo review the research advances about myeloid derived suppressor cells(MDSC)and pancreatic cancer, and explore the future research trends. MethodRelated literatures in recent 5 years from abroad databases(PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE)and domestic databases(CNKI, WANFANG, and WEIPU)were collected and reviewed. ResultsThe MDSC was the core of tumor immune regulation network in pancreatic cancer microenvironment, it formed a complicated feedback with the pancreatic cancer and the stellate cells. MDSC could promote the cancerogensis and progression of pancreatic cancer, and the accumulation of MDSC in peripheral blood of pancreatic cancer patient could predict the poor prognosis. However up to now, the literatures about the relation between MDSC and the chemotherapy and metastasis of pancreatic cancer were limited. ConclusionsThe comprehensive therapy by targeting MDSC of pancreatic cancer is promising. However, many issues need to be further investigated.

        • Progress in Role of Notch Signaling Pathway in Pancreas Development and Pancreatic Cancer

Objective To investigate the role of Notch signaling pathway in pancreas development and pancreatic cancer. Methods The related literatures were reviewed and analyzed. Results Notch signaling played a role early in development by maintaining pancreatic epithelial cells in a progenitor state and delaying their differentiation until timely appropriate. Notch signaling was reactivated in the initiation and progression of pancreatic cancer. Conclusion Notch signaling pathway plays an important role in the pancreas development. Sustained Notch signaling activity promotes the progression of pancreatic cancer, and may be one of major factors in the initiation of pancreatic cancer.

        • Diagnosis and Surgical Treatment for Pancreatic Ductal Stones Combined with Pancreatic Cancer: A Report of 9 Cases

Objective To summarize the diagnosis and surgical treatment experience of pancreatic ductal stones combined with pancreatic cancer. Methods Nine cases of pancreatic ductal stones combined with pancreatic cancer who treated in our hospital from January 2005 to December 2015 were collected to make a retrospective analysis, summarizing the clinical features, imaging diagnosis, and surgical treatment. Results Four of 9 cases received ultrasound combined with CT angiography, and all of them were diagnosed as pancreatic ductal stones combined with pancreatic cancer; 4 cases received magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP)/magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), and 3 cases were considered as pancreatic ductal stones combined with pancreatic cancer; 3 cases received endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and all of them were diagnosed as pancreatic cancer. All of the 9 cases underwent surgery, including 4 cases of pancreaticoduodenectomy, 3 cases of distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy, 1 case of pancreatolithotomy plus distal pancreaticojejunostomy, and 1 case of laparoscopic exploration with biopsy. No one died after surgery, but gastric stress ulcer bleeding happened in 1 case, and class B pancreatic fistula happened in 1 case. All of the 9 cases were followed-up for 5-36 months, with the median were 13 months. Seven cases died during follow up period, 5 cases survived longer than 1 year, and 2 cases survived longer than 3 years. Conclusions For patients with recurrent pancreatic stones, we should be wary of the possibility of combining pancreatic cancer, CT and MRCP can be used as further examination of this disease, a variety of imaging methods combination can improve the diagnosis. If imaging examination reveals swollen pancreas without surgical contraindications, surgery is necessary, and standard pancreaticoduodenectomy or pancreas body and tail resection is recommended.

        • Association of ACEIs/ARBs therapy with digestive system neoplasms: a meta-analysis

ObjectiveTo systematically review the association between angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs)/angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) therapy and digestive system neoplasms.MethodsPubMed, EMbase, The Cochrane Library, CNKI, WanFang Data, VIP and CBM databases were searched from inception to February 2017 to collect studies about ACEIs/ARBs therapy and risk of digestive system neoplasms or survival of digestive system neoplasms patients. Two reviewers independently screened the literature, extracted the data and evaluated the risk of bias of included studies, then meta-analysis was performed using Stata 12.0 software.ResultsA total of 21 articles including 32 studies were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that ACEIs/ARBs therapy could reduce the risk of colorectal cancer (OR=0.92, 95%CI 0.86 to 0.99, P=0.023), but there were no relationships between ACEIs/ARBs therapy and the risk of liver cancer or gastric cancer. ACEIs/ARBs therapy could improve the survival of colorectal cancer patients (HR=0.79, 95%CI 0.63 to 0.98, P=0.031), but there was no association between ACEIs/ARBs therapy and the survival of pancreatic cancer patients (HR=0.75, 95%CI 0.50 to 1.13, P=0.165).ConclusionACEIs/ARBs therapy may reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, as well as improve the survival of colorectal cancer patients, but there are no significant relationships between ACEIs/ARBs therapy and the risk or the survival of other digestive system neoplasms, such as liver cancer, gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer. Due to limited quality and quantity of the included studies, more high quality studies are needed to verify above conclusion.

        • Analysis of Lactate Dehydrogenase Activity and Its Isoenzyme Pattern in Pancreatic Normal Tissue, Carcinoma and Adjacent Non-Cancerous Tissue

Objective To detect the activity of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and LDH isoenzyme, and to explore the relation between biological behavior ofpancreatic cancer and glycolysis. MethodsConsecutive 12 cases of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and 12 benign lesions such as insulinoma from October 2006 to July 2008 were collected, as well as normal pancreatic tissues. The total activity of the LDH was detected by the LDH testing kits, and the iosenzyme pattern of LDH was inspected by the France Sebia hydrasys. ResultsCompared to the normal tissue, LDH activity ofpancreatic cancer and adjacent non-cancerous tissue was significantly higher (P<0.05). LDH iosenzyme pattern in cancer tissue was also significantly different, the percentage of LDH4 and LDH5 increased obviously, and were greater than that innormal tissue (P<0.05). ConclusionThe alteration of LDH activity and its isoenzyme pattern are possibly related to the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer. Inhibit the LDH activity may be a new therapeutic strategy.
