        • Bibliometric analysis of sleep apnea syndrome during pregnancy

Objective To conduct a bibliometric analysis of literature related to sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) during pregnancy, reveal research trends, and promote further development in this field. Methods A search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection for literature related to SAS during pregnancy, covering the period from the establishment of the database to July 25, 2024. HistCite and Excel were used to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the literature, including publication year, journal source, author, institution, country, and region. Results A total of 956 articles were included. Research on SAS during pregnancy had undergone an initial stage (1978-2009), a slow growth stage (2010-2020), and a rapid growth stage (2021 to present). The keyword with the highest frequency was “sleep”. The United States was the most active in this field, and the number of studies in China had significantly increased in recent years. High-yield authors mainly included Bourjeily G, O’Brien LM and Facco FL. The top five journals in terms of publication volume were Sleep Medicine, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, Sleep and Breathing, Sleep, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Conclusions Although significant progress has been made in the field of SAS during pregnancy, there are still research gaps in areas such as pathological mechanisms, diagnostic techniques, long-term impacts on mother and child, and treatment optimization. Research on SAS during pregnancy in China exhibits a trend of “increasing quantity but needing improvement in quality”.
