Medical simulation teaching is a bridge course from theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. At present, the medical simulation teaching is facing many problems. The iSIM is a systematic method to optimize medical simulation teaching. It aims to maximize the effect of medical simulation teaching by various teaching methods and assistant technologies. The combination of iSIM and medical simulation teaching can develop the correct clinical thinking, improve the clinical skills and strengthen the communication skills, so as to improve the medical quality in the real clinical environment. Based on experience Center of Experimental Teaching on Clinical Skills of West China Hospital , this paper introduces how to use iSIM to optimize medical simulation teaching.
Feedback plays a vital role in medical simulation and clinical practice teaching. Nevertheless, there is a lack of an effective structured theoretical model to improve the teaching feedback quality. Guided by the “learning-centered” educational philosophy and relevant medical education theories, the teaching team from West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University explored and established the “West China Four-Step Feedback Method” for medical simulation and clinical practice teaching, and developed supporting auxiliary teaching tools. This article introduces the construction and operational mechanism of the aforementioned feedback model, the design and optimization process of the auxiliary teaching tools. Its theoretical value, practical application value, limitations and future research directions are also discussed.
