        • Cancer-associated fibroblasts in triple-negative breast cancer: progress in clinical translational research

ObjectiveTo summarize and review the clinical translational research progress on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), aiming to provide new ideas for the treatment of TNBC. MethodRelevant literature on studies of CAFs in TNBC in recent years was retrieved and reviewed. ResultsAs the most important stromal cell component in the tumor microenvironment (TME), CAFs participate in tumor growth, invasion, immune suppression, and therapy resistance by secreting cytokines and chemokines and remodeling the extracellular matrix. Based on this, the clinical translational strategies targeting CAFs in TNBC mainly include targeting CAFs-specific markers and their oncogenic pathways, inhibiting or reversing CAFs activation and recruitment, and developing novel therapies such as photothermal therapy. ConclusionsIn the face of clinical challenges such as therapy-resistant TNBC, research on CAFs provides new insights for addressing the complexity of the TME. Although targeting CAFs is challenging due to their heterogeneity, current clinical research and trials have confirmed that combining CAFs-targeting strategies with immunotherapy or chemotherapy is feasible. This approach is expected to become a new treatment modality for TNBC.

        • Pathological diagnostic value of respiratory optical coherence tomography in lung cancer

Objective To explore the pathological diagnostic value of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in lung cancer. Methods This study selected patients who underwent general anesthesia and electronic bronchoscope biopsy at the Respiratory Endoscopy Center of Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital from January 1, 2023, to December 1, 2023. White-light bronchoscopy (WLB), auto-fluorescence bronchoscopy (AFB), and OCT examinations were performed in all patients. Lesions were assessed for benign or malignant characteristics based on AFB and OCT before biopsy. The final pathological results were determined according to pathology report. Results A total of 124 patients were included in the study. The accuracy of OCT in differentiating the nature of lesions was 93.55%, significantly higher than AFB (accuracy 83.06%). The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of OCT were all higher than AFB. For squamous carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and small cell lung cancer, the accuracy rates of OCT imaging characteristics were 91.94%, 94.35%, and 94.35%, respectively. Conclusion OCT can improve the accuracy of pre-bronchoscopic tissue pathology biopsy in determining the nature of lesions and provide rapid pathological typing basis, potentially further promoting the development of non-invasive histological biopsy.

        • BIOCOMPATIBILITY EVALUATION OF NANO TCP/ GELATIN/ VELVET ANTLER POLYPEPTIDE MATERIAL

Objective To evaluate the biocompatibil ity of a new nano TCP/ gelatin / velvet antler polypeptide material. Methods The nano TCP/ gelatin / velvet antler polypeptide material was prepared, and the morphous was observed by scanning electron microscope. L929 and NIH/3T3 cell l ines were cultured conventionally. Acute toxicity test, hemolysis test, cell prol iferation and cytotoxicity test were used to evaluate the biocompatibil ity of the material. Results The compositemicrosphere material was about 10 μm in diamerter and had good spherical geometry, high monodispersity with nanometer size holes on the surface. Toxic symptoms such as hyperspasmia, palsy and death did not appear during the observing stage in acute toxicity test. Maximum hemolysis rate of the material was less than 5% which met the requirement of hemolysis test standard as a medical material. Different concentrations of the materials leaching l iquor could enhance the prol iferation of NIH/3T3 cells, which showed the good biologic activity. Toxicity grade was 0, and the material was no cytotoxic. Conclusion Nano TCP/ gelatin / velvet antler polypeptide material has good biocompatibil ity.
