用MTT比色分析法和流式細胞術在體外研究了5肽胃泌素(pentagastrin,PG)及胃泌素受體拮抗劑丙谷胺(proglumide, PGL)對人大腸癌細胞株SW480的作用。結果顯示：PG能促進SW480細胞生長；PGL單用時對SW480細胞沒有影響，當PG與PGL合用時，PGL呈劑量依賴地拮抗PG的作用，PGL在32μg/ml以上時，拮抗作用趨于恒定。提示胃泌素的作用是通過其受體發揮的。PG促進SW480細胞合成DNA、蛋白質，促進SW480細胞從G0/G1期過度到S期和G2M期；PGL完全拮抗這種作用，提示胃泌素的作用在受體后是通過影響細胞周期實現的。
